Severe Weather Alert: Southern Australia Prepares for Intense Storms This Week

A weather system building towards parts of south and south-eastern Australia is expected to bring a mixed bag of conditions.
The deep low-pressure system brewing below Western Australia is expected to bring rain, storms, strong winds, heat, and then cold temperatures to Victoria, NSW and Tasmania.

On Monday, Weatherzone issued a warning about an approaching weather system expected to deliver wind gusts exceeding 89 km/h to southeastern Australia by Friday morning.

Storms and showers are expected to move in an easterly direction from South Australia tonight and into tomorrow.

There is a potential for severe thunderstorms on Thursday, particularly affecting southern regions of South Australia, southern New South Wales, and Victoria.

Simultaneously, some areas in eastern Australia should brace for temperatures soaring beyond 30 degrees Celsius.

This surge in temperature is anticipated to commence in Victoria tomorrow, with the northwestern part of the state and western New South Wales experiencing highs in the low 30s.

Sydney is expected to cop the brunt of the heat with highs of up to 34 degrees expected on Friday, nudging the state’s hottest ever April day of 35.6 degrees.

Meanwhile, Tasmania is advised to brace for snowfall at altitudes as low as 700 to 800 meters by Friday, with these chilly conditions likely to persist through the weekend.
