A stolen car packed with eight teenagers hit a Mercedes SUV causing it to flip on Melbourne’s Monash Freeway.

A teenage boy has been taken into custody following a dramatic incident earlier today, involving a collision and a stolen vehicle.

The chaos began around 10:15 a.m. when a white Mazda 3, reportedly stolen, was spotted weaving recklessly through inbound traffic on the freeway in Berwick, according to police reports.

Shortly after, at approximately 10:25 a.m., the Mazda crashed into a Mercedes SUV, causing the latter to overturn near the eastern section of the South Gippsland Highway.

In the aftermath of the collision, witnesses observed up to eight teenage boys fleeing the Mazda. A quick-thinking bystander managed to apprehend the 15-year-old driver, restraining him until law enforcement could arrive on the scene.

The seven other teens disappeared into the surrounding bushland. Despite the deployment of the police Air Wing, the search for these individuals proved unsuccessful.

The remaining seven teens fled into nearby bushland and despite Air Wing being called were not found.

The female driver who was the only one in the Mercedes sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Dandenong Hospital.

Ambulance Victoria said she was stable.

The Mazda was stolen from a car park in Noble Park on December 30.

Meanwhile, in unrelated crash on the same highway, officers saw a Nissan Navara stopped in the emergency lane.

As officers tried to intercept, it took off.

It then hit six vehicles on the freeway at the Belgrave Hallam Road off-ramp.

The driver and his passenger fled on foot.

The Nissan was stolen from a car park at the Cranbourne Railway Station on January 20.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam.
