A man has been arrested after dramatic videos showed a ute flying down inner-city Melbourne streets on screeching, fiery rims, crashing into multiple cars.
Police alleged the Ford Ranger drove on the wrong side of the road and hit 10 cars about 7pm tonight before the man was arrested in Richmond and a “quantity of drugs” was seized from the vehicle.

A dramatic scene unfolded on Church Street near Coles, as a vehicle was captured tearing down the tram tracks in a precarious state. The ute, heavily tilted towards its front right side, appeared to have its wheel locked at nearly a 90-degree angle, causing a shower of bright sparks from its rims as it sped along.

The chaos continued onto nearby York Street, where the driver reportedly collided with four other vehicles. In a startling aftermath, a black car parked at the roadside was thrust onto another vehicle after the ute crashed into it from the wrong direction.

The incident began when police received reports of a vehicle dangerously navigating the Yarra area, traveling on the wrong side of the road and riding on its rims.

Officers soon spotted the errant ute on Highett Street in Richmond, setting off a brief pursuit that concluded with the crash on York Street.

Following the collision, the driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by police shortly thereafter.

Police alleged he crashed into about six other cars in the Collingwood and Fitzroy areas during the incident. No one was hurt.

Officers were interviewing the 49-year-old Oakleigh man tonight.

Police called for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
