Two men have been charged with the murder of a Sydney plumber earlier this year in what police believe may have been a case of mistaken identity.
John Versace, a 23-year-old man with no links to any criminal organisations, was shot in Condell Park on May 19.

Outside his family’s residence on Dalton Street, he was discovered with gunshot injuries to his chest and abdomen.

Paramedics arrived promptly to administer aid, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The incident was recorded on CCTV, showing Versace as he reversed his truck into the driveway, only to be confronted by two individuals in a different vehicle.

One individual exited the car, approached Versace, and fired several rounds at him.

After the attack, the two suspects quickly drove away, leaving Versace gravely wounded on the driveway.

A burnt-out car of a similar make and model was later found in Fairfield East, with a handgun also found in the smouldering wreck.

A 43-year-old man from Casula and a 19-year-old man were today arrested and charged with murder.

Both were refused bail to appear at court today.

Police will allege the men were involved in driving and moving the vehicles involved in the murder.

Investigations into the shooting continue.
