A light aircraft has crashed into an aviation hangar just north of Adelaide in South Australia.

Authorities responded swiftly to reports of the incident near Kings Road in Parafield, where the small plane hit the hangar during its landing approach at the airport.

South Australia Police have evacuated the area to ensure public safety while emergency teams handle the situation.

“We advise people to steer clear of the vicinity,” a police spokesperson stated.

As of now, emergency services have not disclosed the number of individuals involved, either on the aircraft or within the hangar.

Parafield is located about 15 to 18 kilometres north of the Adelaide CBD.

It is the second light plane crash in Parafield in a matter of months.

The pilot and sole occupant walked away from the crash uninjured.

The plane caught fire on impact and flames spread to nearby grass.
