The son of suspected cop killer Dezi Freeman has compared his father to “Rambo” and warned he could survive for weeks in the bush.

Freeman has been on the run since two police officers were killed in a shooting ambush at his home in Porepunkah, Victoria.

More than 450 officers are currently involved in the search, with police also announcing a $1 million reward for information leading to his arrest on the weekend.

There has been speculation that a person or people in the area could be providing assistance.

But his son Koah Freeman, 20, said his father was capable of surviving on his own.

“I’m not sure if you have ever seen the movie Rambo, especially the first Rambo movie, it’s like that but 10 times’ capacity.”

Police have also characterised Freeman as a skilled outdoorsman.

Koah said the Mount Buffalo National Park, where Freeman is suspected to have fled with multiple firearms, was familiar territory to his father.

“He’s been there since he was 16, just going hiking in places no man has ever stepped foot in,” he said.

Koah said he suspected his father could be dead, but called on him to turn himself in to police.

He said his and his family’s hearts went out to the families of the slain officers Vadim De Waart-Hottart and Neal Thompson.
