The Easter long weekend is approaching, and the weather forecast indicates that rain will be a common theme across nearly every state and territory.

While some areas may experience only light showers, others are in for a significant amount of rainfall.

Here’s a rundown of what to expect weather-wise across the country during the Easter holiday.

Sydney residents should prepare for a rainy Easter weekend, as there is a strong likelihood of showers from Friday through Monday.

The holiday kicks off with warm weather on Friday, reaching a high of 27 degrees, accompanied by evening rain.

The mercury will drop on Saturday, and it will remain cooler for the rest of the long weekend, with maximums of 24 degrees.

Australian Capital Territory

The weather will be much the same in Canberra over the Easter long weekend.

There’s a moderate to high chance of rain every day of the long weekend, with maximum temperatures ranging from 26 degrees on Friday to 20 degrees on Sunday.

Brisbane has rain on the way with a moderate to high chance of wet weather on every day of the long weekend.

The biggest downpour is forecast for Sunday, and temperatures will be in the high 20s all weekend.

It should cool a little on Monday.

There will be a chill in the air and a few showers in Melbourne over the long weekend.

Friday will be cold with a high of 19 degrees and a moderate chance of rain.

Similar conditions are forecast for Saturday, though the chance of rain is lower, and Sunday will be warmer at 24 degrees with scattered showers.

Monday will be the wettest day, with a 70 per cent chance of rain.

It’s going to be frosty in Hobart this Easter, though the chill should abate by Monday.

Friday is forecast for a maximum temperature of just 16 degrees, and Saturday isn’t much better, with a predicted high of 18 degrees.

Sunday and Monday will be warmer with highs of 20 and 23 degrees, respectively.

Fortunately for those in Hobart, the likelihood of rain is very low.

The forecast for Adelaide this Easter starts promising, then goes south – at least for anyone planning outdoor events.

Friday and Saturday will be cloudy with highs of 24 degrees.

Sunday will be warmer and bring some showers in the evening, with a moderate chance of rain on Monday, which will be warmer again.

Perth will be treated to a warm, sunny Easter long weekend.

Friday is forecast for a maximum temperature of 28 degrees, then the weather will cool a little with highs hovering at 25 degrees for Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

There’s hardly any chance of rain all weekend.

It’s going to be hot and wet in Darwin this Easter, with possible thunderstorms on Saturday.

There’s a high chance of rain from Friday to Monday, with temperatures in the low- to mid-30s every day.
