A noughties legend left his fans gobsmacked when he made a very unexpected performance outside a McDonald’s in London.

Footage shared to TikTok showed the iconic singer belting out one of his best-known hits – 20 years after it was first released.

He looked unrecognisable as he sported a vibrant blue and pink tie-dye tracksuit and danced in the middle of the street.

Passersby went wild as he joined DJ AG Online, whose real name is Ashley Gordon, behind the decks for one of his well-known London street performances.

At the height of his fame, the star secured three smash hit number ones with his debut album while he also has a very famous younger sister.

But would you have recognised him?

That’s right, it’s Daniel Bedingfield!

In the footage, Daniel, 45, belted out the lyrics to his chart-topping smash hit anthem Gotta Get thru This, which was also the name of his first solo album.

Fans were sent into a frenzy in the comments section as they shared their delight over his unexpected performance.

Comments included: ‘Oh my lord they managed to get Daniel out of hiding’; ‘The legend Daniel Bedingfield’;

‘I love this for him. Look at the pure joy’; ‘Daniel Bedingfield comeback please’; ‘Him and his sister are so underrated’;

‘Adds to playlist….. because Daniel bedingfield was and is still a G!!!!!!!’

New Zealand-born Daniel became a household name in the early 2000s after capitalising on the rise of UK garage.

He released a string of hit singles that included two number ones and a bestselling debut album named after his first hit.

His album sold 1.6million UK copies and also spawned the hits If You’re Not the One and Never Gonna Leave Your Side.

His sister is also famed singer Natasha Bedingfield, who is best-known for her hits Unwritten and Pocketful of Sunshine.

Yet fans of the enigmatic star have been starved of new material for the last twenty years.

However, he has finally delighted his fans by announcing he is releasing new drum and bass music, which he has made with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

He is also heading back on tour with appearances lined up at an array of summer festivals around the UK.

It will be Daniel’s first since 2005, undertaken little more than a year after a car accident almost cost him his life.

He was left with head and neck injuries following a collision in his New Zealand while he was visiting his parents over Christmas in 2004, which prompted him to take a break from music.

He was driving a 4×4 vehicle near Whangarei in North Island when the accident happened.

During his recovery, he began co-writing for other artists, including American Idol finalist David Archuleta, X Factor winner Ben Haenow and Pixie Lott.

He returned to the UK in 2016, when he joined the cast of the West End production of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds alongside the likes of Jimmy Nail, David Essex and Heidi Range, but quit after just a few weeks.

He then relocated to America to embrace a holistic lifestyle and returned to stage with Fred Again in recent years, before returning to the UK for his new tour.
