The council is looking to sell 8000 tickets for $50 each, which would earn $400,000 in revenue.

The move would cost the council $95,000 to make it a ticketed event.

Council said the leftover $300,000 would be put towards costs such as waste management and crowd control.

Residents are divided on the move to charge for the free event.

”I just don’t see why there is a need for it, I’d be asking why,” one resident said.

“I definitely won’t be going out, definitely not,” another resident said.

North Sydney Council was set to vote on the entry fee proposal tonight.
