A man has been formally accused in connection with a series of alleged voyeurism incidents in Sydney’s Inner West.
On August 25, investigators initiated a special task force to probe multiple voyeurism-related offences in the Inner West of Sydney.
From Sunday, May 18, to Tuesday, October 21, officers responded to a residence on Harnett Avenue in Marrickville in the early hours on five occasions. This followed reports from a woman who claimed she could hear a man attempting to converse with her through her window.
Each time, the individual managed to escape before law enforcement could arrive.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, authorities were dispatched to a home on Livingstone Road in Marrickville, following claims of a man allegedly trying to engage a woman in conversation through her window.
The man fled the scene before police arrived.
About 1.30am on Tuesday 21 October, investigators were surveilling Hartnett Street in Marrickville when they allegedly observed a man walking along the footpath of Hartnett Street before he entered the front of a home and allegedly peered through a window of the house.
Police attempted to speak to the man before he fled.
Officers arrested a 64-year-old man in a nearby car park.
The man was taken to Newtown Police Station.
He was charged with seven counts of peep or pry, damaging property, custody of a knife in a public place, and resisting police officers in the execution of duty.
The man was refused bail to appear in court on Thursday October 3, after he was granted conditional bail to appear at Newtown Local Court on Tuesday, 4 November.
