For the past nine years, the 30-year-old man had been held at the Villawood Detention Centre. However, on Wednesday morning, he allegedly managed to flee Bankstown Hospital while receiving medical treatment.

The individual was previously sentenced for his involvement in the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Doonside back in 2014.

He was in detention while awaiting deportation.
