A police officer has been rescued after becoming trapped in a vehicle that smashed into a house following a two-car collision in Sydney’s western suburb of Blacktown.

Around 3 p.m., emergency services rushed to Bungarribee Road in response to reports of a two-vehicle accident. Upon arrival, they discovered that a police car, which was headed to an urgent incident with lights and sirens activated, had collided with a Mitsubishi SUV.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the SUV unexpectedly turned into the police vehicle’s path, which was traveling at high speed. In an attempt to avoid the collision, the officer driving the police car clipped the SUV, resulting in the vehicle crashing into a nearby home.

The SUV allegedly turned into the path of the police car travelling at speed.

The police car reportedly tried to avoid the SUV before clipping it and crashing into the home.

The male constable driver suffered minor injuries, while the female constable was trapped in the vehicle and reportedly suffered injuries to her arm.

The female constable was a passenger in the vehicle and was cut free.

The other driver, a 30-year-old man, is assisting police with their inquiries.

The road remains closed, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
