In Brisbane, authorities have apprehended six teenagers suspected of being involved in a criminal gang responsible for a string of home burglaries throughout the city.

Among those arrested was a 14-year-old boy from Marsden, who attempted to evade capture by hiding in the roof insulation of a Kingston residence. This dramatic arrest unfolded as police searched the property.

While one teenage girl was taken into custody upon answering the door, locating the boy proved to be a more complex challenge for the officers.

Body camera footage captured the tense moments as police called out for the boy to surrender. Despite their efforts, he remained concealed, prompting officers to take further action.

In a determined effort, officers climbed into the insulation area, ultimately pulling the boy from the roof cavity by his legs before placing him under arrest.

Another child was on the scene in bed, and they were also arrested.

Six teenagers were arrested overall, all being between 14 and 16 years old.

Police will allege he is part of a criminal gang with five other teenagers who have committed almost 100 property offences in southern Brisbane.

They allegedly have hit houses in over a dozen suburbs, including Bulimba, Springfield Lakes and Sunnybank Hills.

They were charged with multiple offences, including stealing, attempted burglary, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The teenagers who were arrested have now been handed dates to appear at various children’s courts across Brisbane.
