Authorities responded to an incident at a Geelong shopping mall on Malop Street around 3:30 in the afternoon, following emergency calls reporting an assault. The altercation involved two teenage boys and drew the attention of several onlookers, who appeared to have connections to those involved.
Upon arrival, police discovered a 17-year-old male nearby, suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds. The injured teenager was promptly transported to a hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Investigators have reason to believe that the other individual involved in the altercation, along with several witnesses, quickly departed the scene. They were last observed making their way towards Yarra Street.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police believe the other person involved, along with several bystanders, fled the scene and were last seen heading towards Yarra Street.
A crime scene has been set up at the shopping centre and surrounding areas.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have filmed the altercation to please come forward.
