Authorities report that three youths were spotted driving a stolen sedan on Camden Valley Way in Camden around noon yesterday.
The pursuit began when the driver ignored orders to stop, eventually leading to a chaotic scene where the vehicle collided with multiple cars, climbed onto the sidewalk, and swerved into oncoming traffic, as stated by the police.
The sedan was discovered abandoned after crashing into a tree near William Avenue.
Shortly after, at approximately 12:10 p.m., police received another call, this time to Lerida Avenue. A 26-year-old man claimed he was attacked by three teenagers who allegedly assaulted him and forcibly removed him from his BMW sedan.
The suspects reportedly escaped the area in the stolen BMW, according to police allegations.
The trio then fled the scene in the stolen BMW, police allege.
Another chase began through Elderslie heading towards Camden CBD, but ended shortly after.
Firefighters were called to Onslow Park in Camden about 20 minutes later, where the allegedly stolen BMW had been torched.
The fire spread to nearby grassland and was soon extinguished, however the car was destroyed.
Three teenagers – two 16-year-old boys and a 13-year-old girl – were arrested at the scene.
One of the 16-year-old boys has been charged with two counts of police pursuit without stopping and driving dangerously, robbery, possessing a prohibited drug and four counts of not giving particulars to another driver.
He was also charged with breach of bail and was refused bail to appear in a children’s court today.
The second 16-year-old boy and the 13-year-old girl were both charged with robbery and being carried conveyance taken without consent of the owner.
The pair were also refused bail to appear in a children’s court today.
