Two men will face court after allegedly stealing $5000 worth of Driza-Bone jackets from an apartment car park in Melbourne.

In the early hours of the morning, a man became an unexpected eyewitness to an attempted break-in at a carpark on Elaine Court in Richmond. As the clock struck approximately 4:30 a.m., he reportedly noticed two individuals trying to force their way into his car.

Acting quickly, the man began recording the incident on his phone. However, the suspects allegedly turned the tables by snatching his device and making a swift getaway in a Toyota Corolla.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they discovered that the incident was not isolated. Several others reported that their vehicles and storage cages had also been targeted by the thieves.

Using technology to their advantage, detectives traced the stolen phone’s location to an apartment building on Elizabeth Street in Richmond. This led to a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

Once there, police apprehended two men and uncovered a trove of stolen goods. Among the recovered items were two stolen vehicles, an assortment of power tools, and approximately $5,000 worth of Driza-Bone jackets.

Two Richmond men, aged 25 and 26, have been charged with multiple offences.

The 26-year-old was held in custody to appear in court today, while the 25-year-old was bailed to attend court on December 3.
