It’s no secret that cost of living pressures have stung Aussies this year, with inflation continuing to soar on top of rising interest rates.
Overseas, many nations have also found themselves in a similar crisis.
In fact, new data has revealed that prices have risen by an average of 8.1 per cent over the past year in the world’s biggest cities – the fastest rate for some 20 years.
Prices for gas and electricity have risen by 29 per cent on average in western European cities as the region attempts to wean itself off Russian energy.

This compares with a global average increase of 11 per cent.
And it doesn’t stop there. Rent increases, food costs and petrol prices have also made global cities even more expensive places to live in 2022.
