A 38-year-old man is in Royal Darwin Hospital after a quad bike crash that killed an 11-year-old boy.

An 11-year-old boy tragically lost his life, and a man was injured in a quad bike accident on a mango farm in Northern Territory.

Authorities rushed to the scene in the Darwin River area following reports of a quad bike, carrying the young boy and a 38-year-old man, colliding with a tree.

Upon arrival, police and St John Ambulance personnel discovered the boy unconscious and the man suffering from leg injuries.

Despite immediate CPR efforts, the boy could not be revived and was sadly declared dead at the location.

The injured man was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital to receive medical care for his injuries.

It is not known his current condition, however his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have confirmed the Major Crash Investigation is investigating the accident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to make contact with police on 131 444, and are instructed to quote the reference number P25294992.
