In a tragic turn of events, three men lost their lives while a pregnant woman required urgent medical attention following two separate incidents across New South Wales waterways within a single day.
A group from Sydney was enjoying the long weekend on the scenic Mid North Coast of NSW when disaster struck around 6:45 PM yesterday.
The group had been staying in a charming rental property in the secluded town of Gleniffer, approximately six hours from Sydney, near Bellingen.
Residents noted that the Never Never River, located near John Locke Place where the group was swimming, usually remains tranquil. However, three men in their 30s encountered trouble in the waters.
Tragically, two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Shortly after, paramedics made a return trip to assist a pregnant woman suffering from shock.
Tragedy struck again this morning, about 50 kilometres further south in South West Rocks.
Emergency services called to Trial Bay beach about 11.10am found a man believed to be in his 80s, who was unresponsive after bystanders pulled him from the water.
Paramedics couldn’t revive him and he died at the scene.
The coroner will investigate both deaths.
