A tragic accident claimed a man’s life following a collision between a truck and a car on a bustling road in north-west Sydney.
Authorities reported that the male passenger, whose identity remains undisclosed, succumbed to his injuries before emergency responders could reach the scene on Lane Cove Road in North Ryde around 1 a.m.
Initial investigations suggest that the man was thrown from the red vehicle during the impact.
Firefighters were swiftly on the scene to extricate the car’s driver and a female passenger, both of whom were trapped inside the wreckage.
Paramedics provided immediate medical attention to the duo at the site before transporting them to a hospital, where they remain in a serious yet stable condition.
The truck driver – a 61-year-old man – was uninjured. He was taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing.
The area has been declared a crime scene, and police forensic experts have launched investigations, expected to take some time.
Two northbound lanes are now open past the crash site. Diversions have been lifted, however motorists should continue to slow down and exercise caution as emergency services remain on site.
Local buses, including school buses are returning to their normal routes
