According to three diplomatic officials, certain personnel have been instructed to vacate the base amid escalating tensions.
The i Paper has reported that the UK is also pulling some of its staff from a military base in Qatar in anticipation of potential U.S. military action. The British Ministry of Defence has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot characterized the situation in Iran as “the most violent repression in Iran’s contemporary history.”
The unrest in Iran initially erupted due to skyrocketing prices that exacerbated daily struggles for many citizens. These demonstrations have since evolved into protests against the country’s clerical leadership, which has been in power for over 45 years.
