In a bold move, President Donald Trump announced that the United States Navy would “immediately” start a blockade to prevent ships from passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This critical waterway is a strategic channel for 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, making it a focal point of geopolitical tension.

The announcement followed the collapse of peace negotiations between the United States and Iran in Pakistan. By targeting the Strait of Hormuz, Trump aims to undermine Iran’s economic influence, which largely depends on the oil trade through this narrow passage.

Trump took to his Truth Social platform to declare, “Effective immediately, the United States Navy, the Finest in the World, will begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.”

He further stated that he had directed the Navy to intercept any vessel in international waters that has paid a fee to Iran. The president emphasized, “No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas,” signaling a firm stance against what he views as Iran’s economic exploitation of maritime routes.

“No one who pays an illegal toll will have safe passage on the high seas,” he said.

The president stressed that Iran’s nuclear ambitions were at the core of the failure to end the war and that the US was prepared to finish the war.

“(A)t an appropriate moment, we are fully ‘LOCKED AND LOADED’, and our Military will finish up the little that is left of Iran!” Trump posted.
