Aleesha and Andrew Rawson were enjoying a quiet night in with their son Luka yesterday when their neighbour accidentally drove into their home in Holland Park.

“We could feel the house shake a little bit, so I really wasn’t sure what was going on, whether it was, you know, an earthquake or something like that causes it honestly felt that way,” Ms Rawson said.

The Rawson family was uninjured, but they say the crash could have been catastrophic.

“My husband ran outside because he was actually in the room with my two-year-old son, so it was very close to hitting his room and also very close to hitting the gas tank on the side of our house, which would have been catastrophic,” Ms Rawson said.

The couple inside the car were stuck until emergency services arrived and freed them about two hours later.

One of them suffered fractured ribs and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

They had been returning home from a night out when the car went down an embankment but it’s still unclear how the crash actually occurred.

The Rawsons had just gotten the keys to the home a few days ago, making the crash their first interaction with their new neighbours.

“Hopefully we’ll meet them under better circumstances soon,” Aleesha said.

The Rawsons are staying at a hotel until they’re able to return.

“We’ve got no water or electricity at the moment, so we’ll have to try and sort that out in the next couple of days,” Mr Rawson said.

The timing isn’t great for the family, who are expecting their second child.

“We just want to sort everything before this baby comes really,” Ms Rawson said.
