A dramatic police incident unfolded overnight just south of Brisbane, culminating in the arrest of a suspect found hiding underwater following a fatal shooting. This intense episode took place near Beenleigh Shopping Centre in Logan, specifically at Hugh Muntz Park.
Authorities responded to the scene around 10:40 p.m., where they discovered a man suffering from a chest wound. Tragically, the victim, who has been identified as a 35-year-old resident of Bahrs Scrub, was declared dead only minutes after their arrival.
Investigators believe the suspect fled the scene in a white Kia Stonic sedan, which was reportedly carrying stolen license plates. The sedan was seen leaving shortly after the shooting, setting off a chase that would later involve the suspect’s unusual attempt to evade capture.
He has been identified as a 35-year-old Bahrs Scrub man.

Officers spotted the car at Kumbari Avenue in Labrador and put spikes on the road on Jabiru Island.
The car continued for a short distance before the driver abandoned the car at the intersection of Hope Island Road and Helensvale Road, and fled on foot into nearby scrub.
The Dog Squad was called in for the following search, and a 22-year-old Beenleigh man was arrested shortly after.
Police claim the man had been hiding underwater in the reeds near Saltwater Park.
Officers allegedly discovered ammunition on the man, and a discarded firearm nearby.
Hugh Muntz Park and the abandoned Kia have been declared crime scenes.
The investigation continues.
