A word that shocked many when Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese decided to use it has made it into a dictionary.

Now ”delulu” a play on the word delusional, means ‘believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to’ is in the Cambridge Dictionary.

Other words chosen to be recorded in the dictionary this year have also been made popular by famous names.

Kim Kardashian is credited with the rise of “skibidi”.

The slang term has different meanings such as cool or bad, according to dictionary bosses, or it can be used with no real meaning as a joke.

It was coined by the creator of a viral animated video series Skibidi Toilet on YouTube.

Broligarchy, a blend of bro and oligarchy, means ‘a small group of men, especially men owning or involved in a technology business, who are extremely rich and powerful, and who have or want political influence also made an entry.

The term was used to describe a lineup of powerful tech leaders including Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg at the inauguration of President Trump in January 2025, Cambridge Dictionary said.

It’s short for short for traditional wife, which means ‘a married woman, especially one who posts on social media, who stays at home doing cooking, cleaning, etc and has children that she takes care of’ and according to Cambridge Dictionary reflects a growing, controversial Instagram and TikTok trend that embraces traditional gender roles.

“Internet culture is changing the English language,” Cambridge Dictionary Lexical Programme Manager Colin McIntosh said.

“It’s not every day you get to see words like skibidi and delulu make their way into the English dictionary.elulu make their way into the Cambridge Dictionary.

“We only add words where we think they’ll have staying power. Internet culture is changing the English language and the effect is fascinating to observe and capture in the Dictionary.”

Inspo, short for inspiration is something, especially something posted on the internet, that gives you ideas for doing something or that makes you want to do something is also in there.

Lewk, a play on the word look, meaning a particular style, fashion, or outfit, especially one that is unusual and impressive is also listed

It was also made popular by reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race.
