A fisherman in Queensland had the shock of his life after a dolphin suddenly leapt into his boat while he was out on the water.
Bo Sawyer was fishing near Moreton Bay, north of Brisbane, when his unlikely visitor made an appearance yesterday.

Sawyer said in a video posted to TikTok the dolphin jumped three metres out of the water into his boat, breaking the console as he landed.

“He’s currently in the boat, so we’re just waiting for a wildlife group to come,” Sawyer said.

“We’ve been keeping water on him, so he’s alright… A little beaten up.”

In the footage, the dolphin can be seen wriggling on the floor of the boat.

After calling for help, Sawyer said locals and volunteers in Dunwich, west of North Stradbroke Island, helped him safely return the dolphin to water.

He said the dolphin “swam away in good spirits” after jumping back in the ocean.

“Craziest thing I’ve had happen to me on the water,” he added.

Sawyer told followers the mammal was surprisingly heavy and he needed help moving it off his boat.

“I couldn’t even budge the thing,” he said.

“I don’t think people realise how heavy they actually are when fully grown.”

There are two main types of species in this region: the Australian humpback and Indo-Pacific bottlenose.
