Exclusive: A Melbourne mother-of-three has spoken of her terror after two carjackers stole her car from her driveway with her twin boys inside.

Stephanie Wynne was getting ready to drop the four-year-old boys off at kindergarten at 6.30am yesterday when she turned her back for a moment and the thieves pounced.

Wynne and a neighbour sprinted down the street to chase after the vehicle as the mother’s seven-year-old daughter stood in shock.

During the incident, the mother said she had “endless thoughts of fear and terror”.

“I’m horrified, scared, what’s happening next, I don’t know where they’re going, will I get my kids back?” Wynne told 9News.

The twin boys were dropped off at a dead end street uninjured but shaken by the incident.

The boys were cared for by nearby workers at a mushroom farm.

“I’m just so thankful that there’s decent people in the world who stopped when they saw two little boys on the side of the road, and took them in and cared for them until they could be reunited with us,” Wynne said.

Good Samaritan Hien Dang said he has a daughter who is three years old.

“I went to my car and grabbed some toys and we kind of got him to smile a bit,” Dang said.

Another good Samaritan, Lucy Nguyen, said the situation was “heartbreaking”.

“We just turned on a video for him to watch to forget what was happening,” Nguyen said.

The stolen car crashed before a 23-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl were arrested.

They were released pending summons.
