“The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has already dispatched personnel to the affected region,” stated McBain.

“Our national coordination mechanism is in place, and we are actively addressing a variety of strategic planning concerns,” she continued.

“We stand ready to offer support should any requests for assistance arise.”

McBain has also communicated with Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro to discuss the specific assistance required.

Moon adds that there are also extra resources available in the area.

“We have stood up the national emergency management stockpile, which includes temporary emergency shelter, power, water supply, sewerage reticulation, and a range of other services that may speed up recovery after this particular event,” he says.
