A manhunt is underway in Newcastle, New South Wales, as authorities seek a prisoner who was mistakenly set free earlier this week.
The individual in question, 35-year-old Kyle Quayle, is currently serving time for offenses related to theft and assault.
Due to a clerical error, he was inadvertently released from a correctional facility on Tuesday, leading police to issue a warrant for his capture, citing his unlawful freedom.
Authorities suspect that Quayle remains in the Newcastle vicinity.
Today, the police released a photograph of Quayle to aid in their ongoing search efforts.
Quayle is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, 180cm tall, with medium build, black hair, brown eyes and is unshaven.
