A popular sorbet product that mimics the appearance of real fruit has been removed from store shelves due to concerns about an undeclared allergen. Family Select, the brand behind these frozen treats, offers flavors such as mango, strawberry, and lychee, which were found to potentially include milk, according to Food Standards Australia and New Zealand.

The recall applies to sorbets with best before dates up to and including June 22, 2027. This precautionary measure is crucial for the safety of consumers with milk allergies or intolerances, who could experience adverse reactions if they consume the product.

In their official statement, FSANZ emphasized the importance of this recall, urging those with milk sensitivities to avoid these sorbets to prevent possible health risks. Consumers are advised to check their freezers and return any affected products to the point of purchase for a full refund.

The affected sorbets have best before dates up to and including June 22, 2027.

‘Any consumers who have a milk allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,’ FSANZ said in a statement.

‘Consumers should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

‘Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.’

The product has been sold at Spudshed in Western Australia as well as online.
