A Queensland tradie who smashed the windows of his own car in a bid to stop thieves from stealing the vehicle has been bailed after spending the weekend in jail.
Asmir Dzambic spent two days locked up on dangerous driving charges after taking the law into his own hands to stop a thief behind the wheel of his car.

In a dramatic turn of events captured on CCTV, Dzambic was seen taking a baseball bat to the windshield of his company ute after thieves made a second attempt following an initial theft. Just days before, these same culprits had stolen car keys from his demolition business.

The court was informed that the initial robbery had resulted in the loss of tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools, alongside keys to other company vehicles. Alarmed by the incident, Dzambic promptly reported it to the authorities. Anticipating that the thieves might strike again, he strategically placed tracking devices in his vehicles.

His foresight proved correct when, two nights later, the criminals returned. This time, Dzambic was ready and waiting for them.

In court, Dzambic’s lawyer expressed visible frustration, arguing that his client wasn’t donning a superhero costume, but hinted that if he had been, he might not be the only one facing legal consequences.

Dzambic’s lawyer was today visibly furious, telling the court his client wasn’t wearing a black bat suit but perhaps if he was, he wouldn’t be the only one behind bars.

The car thief remains on the run.
