A major investigation is under way following an early morning noise dispute between neighbours which ended with a father and son being stabbed and another son shot.

Police and paramedics arrived at Peninsular Drive in Surfers Paradise about 2am.

They found a 44-year-old father with stab wounds to his leg, neck and head.

His 21-year-old son had two gunshot wounds to his stomach, while another 23-year-old son had minor cuts.

It’s understood the incident was sparked after the dad told his upstairs neighbours to be quiet.

Footage appears to show the moment police suspect 30-year-old Mitchell Barnes allegedly fired a warning shot from the back deck, sparking the violent altercation.

The gunman allegedly fled in a white Mazda hatchback before jumping into a black Toyota Camry with NSW number plates.

The forensics team found a revolver and towed a motorcycle from the unit complex.

Detective Inspector Mark Mooney said a knife was also involved.

“It’s been described as a knife that would be attached to a keyring,” he said.

The father remains in a critical but stable condition, and the gunshot victim is stable at Gold Coast University Hospital.

The gunman is still on the run.

Police believe he may be armed.
