Lababidi was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Detectives are looking into whether the 19-year-old P-plater was speeding at the time of the crash.

“There’s not a Thursday that he doesn’t come past,” family friend Amanda said.

”Unfortunately, now he’s not with us.

“This street, Boronia Road in Greenacre, is like a raceway… something really needs to change.”

Emergency services rushed to Boronia Road in Greenacre after reports of a man being hit by a ute while crossing the road at 6.30pm yesterday.

Lababidi was a father, a friend and a beloved community member who was known for his volunteer work and conducting calls to prayer in mosques across south-west Sydney.

“People used to help him around and he was a helper for everyone and the phone hasn’t stopped with people fighting to pay for his funeral,” friend Ahmad Hraichie said.

The 19-year-old male driver of the ute was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.

An investigation into the crash is under way.
