A woman is facing charges after reportedly hurling an antisemitic insult during a youth netball match in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
Authorities were alerted to Heffron Park in Maroubra around 10 am yesterday, where the 42-year-old, who is affiliated with the Saints club, allegedly directed derogatory comments while spectating the game.
The remarks were purportedly aimed at a team comprising young Jewish players.
Police arrived at the scene and engaged with the woman, subsequently instructing her to leave the premises.
After conducting further investigations, she received a court attendance notice today for allegedly using offensive language in or near a public area or educational institution.
She is due to appear before Waverley Local Court next month.
The incident came after the Antisemitism and Social Cohesion Royal Commission started in Sydney last week.
