Just a few months into their time together, Fifty Fifty continue to make history with their breakout smash “Cupid.” The infectious tune is climbing charts worldwide and has now reached a new milestone by debuting on a prestigious Billboard ranking. In doing so, the brand new group has made history among their fellow South Korean musicians and joined the ranks of some of the industry’s most successful acts.

Debuting at No. 39 on this week’s edition of the ult Pop Airplay chart, “Cupid” marks Fifty Fifty’s entry onto a ranking that tracks the popularity of songs on adult pop radio stations across the United States. While it may be the lowest-ranking new entry, the mere fact that Fifty Fifty appears at all is a significant accomplishment, as only one K-pop act before them has achieved this feat.

Fifty Fifty now joins BTS as only the second South Korean music act to land on the ult Pop Airplay chart. BTS has already achieved notable success on this specific radio chart, and now they’re no longer alone in this feat.

BTS made history in 2020 by becoming the first South Korean musical entity to chart on the ult Pop Airplay chart with their massive hit “Dynamite.” The song climbed to No. 10, marking the group’s first top 10 hit on a chart predominantly associated with Western pop music rather than K-pop.

The following year, BTS expanded their achievements on the ult Pop Airplay chart with their single “Butter.” Although it didn’t reach the same heights as “Dynamite,” peaking at No. 14, the group continued to prove their crossover appeal.

Before the year 2021 came to a close, BTS returned to the ult Pop Airplay chart in collaboration with pop rockers Coldplay. Their joint effort, “My Universe,” soared to No. 8 on the ranking, becoming the highest placement ever achieved by a South Korean musical act.
