1000-lb Sisters Season 7 has heavily documented Tammy Slaton’s journey to undergo skin removal surgery. After losing over 500 pounds, Tammy needed to follow a few more rules by her doctors before she was given the green light for the procedure, which included getting her protein levels up and quitting her vaping habits.
Tammy followed the doctor’s orders, and in Episode 7, viewers watched as she was both nervous and excited to get the procedure done. However, Tammy did not get skin removal on her entire body as doctors did not want to put her body under so much stress. The reality TV star had fat removed from her chin, neck, stomach, and arms. Thankfully, the procedure was a success with Tammy and her family reacting to her new look.
Tammy Slaton Looks At Her New Self Following Skin Removal Surgery
On 1000-lb Sisters Season 7, Episode 8, titled, “Her Turkey Gobbler’s Gone,” Tammy Slaton is still in surgery for her skin removal. Everything has been going well, with nurses constantly giving updates to her siblings about how she is doing. Tammy’s surgery was approximately 8 hours long with doctors removing fat from her neck, chin, stomach, and arms. However, they face a complication when they cannot locate a pin, causing the surgery to go an extra hour, and her family is restless in the waiting room.
The doctor tells Tammy’s family that they removed 10.5 pounds of skin from Tammy’s body. After what seemed like forever, Amy Slaton and Chris Combs visit Tammy in her room with Amanda Halterman leaving because she was too tired. Tammy is all bandaged up, with Chris admitting that he was scared to see her when he first looked at her. However, all that mattered was that she was awake and okay.
“The only thing I was worried about is that b*** was up awake and breathing … that b*** is alive and she made it through. I’m ecstatic,” Chris told the cameras.
The following morning, Tammy already looked fantastic. Chris tells the cameras that his sister “ain’t got a turkey gobbler no more.” The doctors allow Tammy to feel her arms now that she no longer has that extra skin she called “bat wings” and she smiles. In fact, she is just as excited that the excess skin on her stomach is now gone, even having Amanda take a look.
The doctors give Tammy a mirror to look at herself for the very first time. They remove all the bandages around her face, and she looks completely different and will be even more unlike herself once her swelling goes down. In her first confessional since her surgery, she shares:
“It feels so weird. I don’t have my hanging balls**k on my face. My bat wings are gone, too. And now, there’s nothing there but my lap now. It’s gonna take a little while for me to get used to seeing myself like this.”
Tammy’s Family Reacts To Her New Look Two Weeks Post Skin Removal Surgery
When Tammy finally comes home to Kentucky after recovering for a couple of weeks, her family is outside with balloons and flowers. They are all so shocked to see her new appearance.
Amy shares, “Tammy looks really good. Even blind you can really see the difference.” The scene then shows Tammy at her biggest, and it’s really amazing to see just how much weight she has lost.
“Oh my God, she looks great,” Misty Slaton Wentworth said. “When she was 730 pounds, we couldn’t even get her to walk to the mailbox. Now, she’s lost 500 pounds. I mean that’s a couple people, not just one person. I am so proud of her, it’s just unreal.”
Tammy’s Girlfriend Sends Her Flowers After Surgery
In Season 7, Tammy opens up about a new love interest, but she’s nervous to share the news with her family, as she’s now in a relationship with a woman named Andrea. When she does tell them that she is dating a woman, her family isn’t shocked at all. In fact, both Amanda and Misty always believed their sister would end up with a woman.
“If she makes you happy….that’s all we want for each other is just to be happy. That’s all. But I don’t want none of us to stop looking for it. Don’t just settle. Don’t stop until you find exactly what you’re looking for,” Amanda shares.
In another episode, Tammy goes public with Andrea with the two going bowling. However, Tammy admits that she is remaining “cautious” about their relationship because many people have used her in the past. Andrea could not be with Tammy during her surgery because of work, but she did send her flowers which does show that she is thinking of her.
Amy Slaton Looks For A “Back Up” Wedding Venue After Her Family Rejected Her Haunted House Idea
Meanwhile, Amy Slaton is frustrated with her family. She feels that they have been “nitpicking” everything that she does, including how she breathes. Ever since Amy told them that she wants to get married at a haunted insane asylum on Halloween, the family has had many reservations about it, even refusing to go if she goes forward with it.
Back in Kentucky, she shares with her fiancé, Brian Lovvorn, that she feels like she’s the “black flea of the family.”
“They’re getting on to me about everything. Breathing funny, sleeping, eating. I can’t do anything right.”
Amy was going to cancel her wedding after her family’s reaction. However, she decides not to listen to them and do her own thing. But, she does check out a local wedding expo to check out venues for a “back up plan” just in case the haunted insane asylum falls through.
“Think about cottage core, but spider webs, tarnished plates,” Amy shared about her wedding vision to Brian.
While walking through the expo, several of the vendors are shocked but also enthused at Amy’s requests, seeing how she’s creating her own wedding vision which includes taxidermy. In a confessional she shares, “This has been a wonderful day. It’s nice to actually have people interested in my ideas. They actually let me talk, where the siblings get hung up on the whole horror, haunted.”
Amy then shares with Brain that her life is much easier when it’s just her, Brian and her children.
