Social media influencers have taken the world by storm. They are now just as famous and popular as regular celebrities, if not more so. Nowadays, these influencers typically come from Instagram or TikTok. The original influencers, however, got their start on Vine or YouTube. Though Vine was replaced by TikTok, YouTube is still going strong and is a common source for those who want to become content creators. On YouTube, there are all different types of content creators, ranging from beauty gurus to comedians and everything in between.

As with any other celebrity, fans get very invested in the personal lives of their favorite YouTubers. Private lives are hard to maintain when in the public eye, and YouTubers must decide if they are going to embrace the public or keep things to themselves. Here are some YouTubers who secretly got married.

8 Shane Burcaw And Hannah Aylward

Shane Burcaw and Hannah Aylward have a joint channel on YouTube called Squirmy and Grubs. Since they began posting videos on YouTube, Burcaw and Aylward have used their platform to educate audiences on “interabled relationships.” These relationships include one member who is disabled, while the other is not disabled. Their messages have aided many, and they have also opened up a conversation about couples dealing with disability on a daily basis. They also have a podcast called Junkyard Mayhem, in which they dive deeper into their personal lives and the struggles with disability in regards to intimacy, awkwardness, and marriage.

Though their relationship has been very public online, especially considering how Burcaw and Aylward use their personal experience with disability to educate others, they waited to announce their wedding plans until after they were already married. After dating for four years, the YouTube couple tied the knot during the pandemic in an unconventional ceremony. Their officiant conducted the ceremony over Zoom due to the quarantine. They later shared the news of their union on their channel.

7 Veronica Merrell And Aaron Burriss

Veronica Merrell and Aaron Burriss took surprise to a whole new level with their wedding. Merrell is one half of the Merrelltwins YouTube channel. With her twin sister, Merrell produces comedy content for the social media platform. Their videos consist of a lot of challenges, some “get ready with me” videos, and a handful of taste tests. The channel is very lighthearted and generally appeals to young teens. Due to the nature of their channel, Merrell’s personal life is not a typical topic of discussion. This is especially true of her dating life.

Merrell met Burriss in 2017 at Playlist Live in Washington, DC, and though they immediately began dating, Merrell’s fans had no idea. They kept their relationship a secret for four years. They only chose to announce their relationship because they had tied the knot in September 2021. Fans learned in the span of days that Merrell was not only in a relationship, but also a wife.

6 Jake Paul And Tana Mongeau

Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau are some of the most controversial YouTubers. They each have their fair share of scandals and drama, and many people have completely blacklisted them. Whether fans hate or love them, there is no denying that Paul and Mongeau know how to stay relevant and talked about. This was particularly true in 2019 when, after months of playing into a rumored relationship, Paul and Mongeau had a surprise wedding in Las Vegas.

The concept of collaborations is nothing new on YouTube. There is no better way to grow audiences than working with another popular YouTuber. Paul and Mongeau fed into this, and they grew in followers and popularity. Their surprise wedding was not exactly a secret since it was livestreamed to the entire world, and it was later revealed by Paul that the wedding was fake. “We all do things sometimes,” Paul said in reference to the business relationship with Mongeau. “And sometimes you end up getting fake married. So I’ll leave it at that.”

5 Colleen Ballinger And Erik Stocklin

Colleen Ballinger has been a social media influencer for as long as anybody. She first gained popularity with the comedy persona of Miranda Sings, but in recent years she has transformed her content into a vlog-style format. Ballinger did star as Sings in Haters Back Off, a Netflix original comedy series which had two seasons. She was previously married to Joshua Evans, but they divorced after just one year of marriage in 2016.

She found her partner in Erik Stocklin. With her vlog-style format, Ballinger shares a great deal of her personal life and relationships on the social media platform. However, in 2018, Ballinger kept something completely secret for several months. In 2018, Ballinger not only got engaged, but also married Stocklin in a private ceremony. That year, the two also welcomed their first child together. As of 2023, Ballinger and Stocklin have three children and are happier than ever.

4 Safiya Nygaard And Tyler Williams

Safiya Nygaard is a YouTuber who has been popular for many years and previously worked for BuzzFeed. She is known for her “makeup science” videos, in which she will melt down makeup products to create brand new ones. She met her partner Tyler Williams in 2014. Williams asked Nygaard to go to Disneyland together, and since she assumed it was a date, they have been together ever since. Williams and Nygaard made it a habit to go to Disneyland together often when they still lived in Los Angeles. They have since relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina.

Williams plays a large part in Nygaard’s YouTube channel. He films and appears in her videos since they have shifted into a collaborative channel which includes some vlog content. The YouTube couple got married in November 2019, but they waited until January 2020 to share an inside look of their wedding with their fans.

3 NikkieTutorials And Dylan Drossaers

Nikkie De Jager

NikkieTutorials is one of the most popular beauty gurus on YouTube. She first gained popularity in 2015 after one of her makeup videos went viral. She now has over 14 million subscribers on the social media platform. Her real name is Nikkie de Jager-Drossaers and she is known for making extravagant looks on her channel. Nikkie came out as transgender in January 2020. At the time, she was already engaged to Dylan Drossaers.

Nikkie and Drossaers got engaged in 2019 while on vacation in Italy. They have known each other since 2018 and have worked hard to keep their relationship private. As many celebrities have experienced, having a relationship in the public eye can lead to hateful comments, and Nikkie and Drossaers want to avoid that. The couple had a long engagement, as they only just tied the knot in late 2022. Nikkie shared an inside look of their wedding on her YouTube channel.

Jenna Marbles, whose real name is Jenna Mourey, is considered to be one of the original YouTubers. She began her channel in 2010 and released comedy content. As she got older, her original style of content no longer appealed to her. In the later years of her career on YouTube, Mourey released a mix of vlog-style content and more laidback comedy videos. Her dogs, Marble, Kermit, Peach, and Bunny, were consistent stars on her YouTube channel, as was her longtime partner Julian Solomita. After controversy over her old videos, Mourey chose to step away from YouTube in 2020.

Mourey and Solomita began dating in early 2013. They initially met while Solomita was still in highschool—Mourey is six years older than Solomita—and was working at a bar. It was not until Solomita was hired several years later to be a bodyguard for Mourey during a trip to Ireland that the two hit things off. Since Mourey is no longer an active member of the YouTube community, their wedding was kept away from the eyes of the public. They married in late 2022.

1 Shane Dawson And Ryland Adams

Shane Dawson, like Jenna Marbles, is considered to be an original YouTuber. He has had more than his fair share of controversies over the years, causing him to take a several years hiatus and short breaks numerous times since first joining the platform. His current content on YouTube consists of mini-documentaries and conspiracy theories. His partner Ryland Adams also has a YouTube channel. Adams posts vlogs, sharing with fans his private life with Dawson.

Dawson and Adams have had a lot of change over the past couple of years. After getting engaged in 2019, the two decided to make the move from Los Angeles to Colorado. The two have been together for seven years and finally tied the knot in early January 2023. Adams shared the news on his YouTube channel.
