One of the most interesting couples to appear in the latest season was Florida native Veah Netherton, who traveled to South Africa to meet Sunny Mahdi, who was originally from Bangladesh.

Like most couples on the TLC show, Veah and Sunny faced numerous challenges that included cultural and religious differences. In fact, the couple also faced trust issues when Veah brought along her ex-boyfriend, Rory, to South Africa. The pair’s relationship was rocky, but they still decided to get engaged.

Now, the reality TV star revealed that she’s happily married, but it’s not to Sunny.

Veah Netherton Admitted On The Season 7 Reunion To Going On A Date With Her Dog Sitter

Veah Netherton traveled all the way to South Africa—with ex-boyfriend Rory in tow—to meet the man of her dreams, Sunny Mahdi. The couple struggled with jealousy, religious differences, and Sunny’s father’s disapproval, but they still decided to get engaged. During the Season 7 Tell-All, Veah revealed that she and Sunny had split for a short time when she returned to the United States, but they were back together.

The Season 7 Tell-All was filmed in October 2024. However, in February, Veah revealed some shocking news to her social media followers. Reposting an Instagram post by 90 Day Fiancé blogger Alexa Pomegranate, Veah confirmed that she was married.

Veah captioned the report, “Grateful 🙏.”

The dog sitter, whose name is David, made a cameo in Season 7. He looked after Veah’s dog, Zira. During the Tell-All, Veah admitted that during her brief split from Sunny, she and David went on a date. The two went to Disneyland, but she was adamant that they did not kiss. During the Tell-All she slammed the couple’s who questioned her timeline with David. Veah proclaimed she did not cheat on Sunny when she was seeing David.

“Stay tuned to see him on tv! He’s been an amazing partner, helping Veah through her hardest struggles with her health,” the post also read.

In regard to her health, Veah shared on Season 7’s Tell-All that she developed an illness after coming home from South Africa. Speaking to host Shaun Robinson and the couple’s virtually, Veah looked dramatically different, stating that she lost 50 pounds after doctors found gallstones.

However, in an Instagram post, Veah revealed that she was “diagnosed with a brain tumor” before she landed in South Africa. In her lengthy post, the television star shared that she was advised by a “licensed health coach” to “do lympathic draining.” However, Veah’s health only worsened. She asked her followers for help to find the right doctors.

“All of a sudden, I could no longer swallow anything including my own spit, I was spitting up blood, and within a few days, I could no longer walk. The list of symptoms go on, but all this led to several ER visits and a few hospitalizations.

After seeing specialist after specialist, this would go on for months. I would make a lil progress then have to go see a specialist. They would do a test which all seem to be very invasive, and would irritate everything and not even really show anything was wrong.”

In an updated Instagram post, Veah responded to her followers who seemed to be confused about her initial post seeking help to find doctors. She clarified that she “was not asking for help getting answers on that I was asking for help on finding a doctor that specializes in nerve and muscle damage.”

The Couple Faced Several Setbacks

When Veah traveled to South Africa, she met Sunny for the very first time. However, what she didn’t tell Sunny was that she had been traveling with her ex-boyfriend, Rory. This was already a major setback as Sunny had trouble trusting Veah as he knew how close she was to her ex.

When Sunny discovered photos of Rory and Veah together on the plane on her phone, the couple got into a heated argument. However, after constant pleading by Veah, Sunny seemed to let it go and believed her when she shared that she was not interested in her ex romantically.

Still, the couple faced even more hardship, including Veah’s refusal to convert to Islam. When Veah met Sunny’s father, he told her that he did not like her tattoos and pressed her on having to convert. After Sunny seemingly defended his father, Veah stormed off.

“You know that I’m Muslim. So, if we are together, you have to change your religion. You have to,” he told Veah in their hotel. However, Veah was adamant that she would never change her religion. Despite this, Sunny proposed to Veah near a waterfall.

When Veah and Sunny meet his father again to share their engagement news, the former shared that she did not need to convert because Sunny told her it didn’t matter to him. However, that backfired and Sunny’s father told him that he had to choose between Veah or him.

Now that Veah is married to her dog sitter, it appears that Sunny can mend his relationship with his father.
