The success of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé has resulted in several spinoffs, with one of the most popular being 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? which follows fan-favorite couples navigating life as a married couple.

Now in its ninth season, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? brings back eight familiar couples with major life updates. For the first time in the series, the drama expands beyond individual storylines, as the couple, many of whom have formed close relationships off-camera, weigh in on each other’s relationships.

The season premiere wasted no time diving into the drama —both between couples and among friends. In one particular scene, fans see the return of Darcey Silva and Georgi Rusev as they celebrate Darcey turning 50 and make plans to meet his parents for the first time in Bulgaria.

The Season 9 premiere of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? reintroduced viewers to fan-favorite reality TV star Darcey Silva and her husband, Georgi Rusev. In the first episode, the two are celebrating a major birthday as Darcey turns the big 5-0 with Georgi setting up a private and romantic dinner for the two. The couple have an over 10-year age gap, and it appeared that Georgi had a tough time even saying the number fifty.

“Happy birthday to my beautiful wife, for your …. birthday,” Georgi shares before leaving an awkward pause. “I don’t want to say the age.”

Darcey asks, “Are you scared to say my age? It’s okay, I’m 50!”

Georgi denies being fearful of realizing his wife has turned fifty, but does add that she is now “halfway there from the 100s,” which no woman really wants to hear. But, Darcey laughs at his comment, sharing, “Hopefully I last to 100!”

In a confessional, Georgi asks Darcey how she feels about being 50 and she has no issues with her age. “I’m aging like fine wine. Want to take a sip?” She tells him.

Darcey And Georgi Discuss Their Upcoming Trip To Bulgaria, But There Is An Issue

As the couple clink champagne glasses, Georgi says “nazdrave” which is the Bulgarian word for cheers. He tells Darcey that it’s a “very important word in Bulgaria.” The conversation then leads the two to speak about their upcoming trip to his motherland. “You need to start learning Bulgarian,” he shares, adding that the two are going “soon.”

He also puts some added pressure on Darcey by telling her she will be the first woman he will introduce to his parents too. “You’re the first woman that I’m going to bring home, and that’s a big thing,” he says.

In a confessional, Georgi admits that he’s “nervous” about the trip because he has not been back to Bulgaria in 13 years. He adds that he’s fearful of what his parents will think of Darcey. “I just want them to accept her,” he states.

But for Georgi there’s also another bigger issue: the way Darcey dresses. He tells her that he wants to make a “good impression” on his parents, which means he wants Darcey to leave her Miami style behind and dress a little more conservatively when she meets them.

“If you f*** up in the first place, that’s it, they don’t like you,” he warns her. Darcey then lets Georgi know that when she’s in Europe she keeps it “classy and demure.”

“I’ve been to Europe more than you’ve been, so don’t school me please,” she hits back at him. However, she reassures him that she won’t be bringing out her flashy clothing when they get there.

Who Else Stars In 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 9?

Fan-Favorite Couples Come Together In What Turns Out To Be A Heated Exchange In Episode 1

Besides fan-favorite couple Darcey and Georgi back on our television screens, the new season also sees seven other returning couples who continue to face their own fair share of marital issues.

The other Season 9 couples include:

  • Gino and Jasmine (who are in an open marriage)
  • Brandon and Julia
  • Tigerlily and Adnan
  • Kara and Guillermo
  • Jovi and Yara
  • Elizabeth and Andrei
  • Loren and Alexei

As mentioned previously, many of these couples reside in Florida and have gotten to know each other outside the show. When Loren and Alexei throw a housewarming party to celebrate their new home in what fans believe is the Hallandale Beach area, they invite couples Elizabeth and Andrei, who reside in Tampa and Jovi and Yara who moved from New Orleans and now live in Miami.

However, tensions escalate when Andrei shares his desire to move his family back to his native Moldova. The announcement doesn’t sit well with everyone—especially Loren and Yara, who both strongly oppose the idea. Things quickly spiral as Loren and Andrei get into a heated argument, while the rest of the group watches the clash unfold.

“As an American and a mother, going to another country is a big f****** move, Andrei,” Loren tells him. However, Andrei’s temper gets the best of him, hitting her back with, “Stop bringing the mama bear f****** subject.”

Elizabeth’s attempts at trying to calm her husband don’t work out well, and even Loren’s friend is shocked at Andrei’s comments and how little he thinks of Elizabeth’s feelings on the potential big move. She storms off before hurling a few insults at Andrei, adding, “You’re a prick …. you don’t deserve a visa a******.”

What Else Can Fans Expect In This Explosive Season?

And that’s just the beginning of a drama-filled season. A preview teases even more emotional moments, including Darcey’s tearful first meeting with Georgi’s parents in Bulgaria. Gino also returns, this time with a new love interest, who wants him to move on from Jasmine, following his and Jasmine’s decision to explore an open marriage. Meanwhile, Jasmine is now living with Matt but admits she still has feelings for Gino.

Elsewhere, Brandon and Julia embark on a fertility journey, Guillermo begins to question Kara’s loyalty, Gino and Jasmine reunite, and Adnan brings up the topic of religious conversion with Tigerlily. Fans will also see more of the couples coming together, which, as Episode 1 confirmed, always spells trouble.
