Nikki Exotika is currently grappling with a significant health crisis.
The 90 Day Fiancé alum, 42, is recovering from a recent breast reconstruction surgery that took a frightening turn, leaving her “very weak” and in pain after suffering excessive bleeding during the procedure. One of Nikki’s close friends took over her Instagram on October 15 to update her followers on the reality star’s condition and ask for prayers as she continues to heal.
The reality star, known for her appearance on the 10th season of TLC’s series, has been candid about her ongoing battles with breast implant complications. In August, she shared a heartfelt video with her followers, detailing her need for a series of surgeries. These procedures were necessary to address issues stemming from a 2019 operation that resulted in an infection and significant scar tissue formation. Her medical team planned to remove the scar tissue, perform fat grafting, and replace the implants.
Though Nikki successfully underwent the surgery, complications quickly arose during her recovery. Her friend, Mike, took to Instagram Stories to shed light on the situation.
“Nikki wasn’t doing well after a very complicated surgery,” Mike wrote. “The explanation I received was that her blood was very thin, which led to excessive bleeding during the operation. Her blood pressure is also worryingly low, necessitating an overnight stay for observation. Nikki told me she had taken Advil for headaches a few days prior, which contains NSAIDs. This has left her very weak. She refused a blood transfusion. Her family and I are extremely concerned. Right now, all we can do is hope and pray for her recovery.”
Medical experts, like those at the National Library of Medicine, have noted that taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as Advil before surgery can indeed increase the risk of excessive bleeding.
Thankfully, after several tense hours, Mike returned with a hopeful update, revealing that doctors administered blood pressure medication, which stabilized her condition. By the following day, Nikki was able to return home.
“I’m very weak and in a lot of pain,” Nikki wrote in a new Instagram post, thanking fans for their well-wishes. “I’m still draining a lot of blood after my breast reconstruction surgery.”
She also reflected on the long journey that led to this operation, noting that it “should’ve been done a few years ago, but I had a lot going on in my life, and now it’s time to take care of it. I need to gain 15 pounds, because they need to do fat grafting, a capsulectomy, and exchange of implants.”
Despite the frightening ordeal, Nikki remains positive and grateful to be alive. “All I will say is I’m lucky to be alive right now!” she wrote in the caption.
