Johnny Depp was thrust into the headlines for his court battle against ex-Amber Heard. Ultimately, the actor prevailed in the case, however, it doesn’t seem to be over just yet, with Heard appealing the decision.

It remains to be seen what will come of it, but according to experts, Heard doesn’t have a big chance of seeing the verdict get overturned.

Behind the scenes, Depp was also involved in a lesser known lawsuit at the time. The issue was finally put to rest in the summer of 2022. It is said that Depp became very hard to work with, and according to a location manager, the actor became dangerous when shooting at a hotel area, after the time to shoot had expired.

The lawsuit from Gregg Brooks states that the actor saw red, and threatened the location manager.

We’ll take a look back at the moment, and how it was all resolved, without Depp stepping into a courtroom. We’re also going to take a look at Depp’s time in the film, City Of Lies.

Critics were split, with some calling it a must-watch, despite Depp’s status at the time.

“A viewer would have to be pretty complacent (or know a lot more about the case than this film explains) not to leave ‘Lies’ feeling that the Wallace case is a shameful — and still fixable, to some extent — example of justice denied,” DeFore wrote for The Hollywood Reporter.

“And if truth can be swept under the rug in such a high-profile murder, what about killings of people nobody knows?”

Indiewire took a different approach, claiming that Depp was at the end of his movie career, given his performance in the film.

“It’s one of the few post-Jack Sparrow performances that makes you mourn what the back nine of Depp’s career might have given us if not for his method-worthy commitment to public disgrace.”

This was all before the resolution to his Amber Heard case, so perhaps opinions have changed… Nonetheless, a location manager on the film wasn’t as impressed with the actor, and filed a lawsuit.

The Location Manager On The Film Gregg Brooks Filed A Lawsuit Against Johnny Depp, Alleging That The Actor Got Physical With Him On-Set

According to the lawsuit issued by Brooks, Depp’s attitude changed during a scene that was supposed to take place at the Barclay Hotel. The location manager revealed that the permit to film in the area had expired, and this did not sit well with the actor, who grew very angry.

Global News states that this is the point in where things started to turn. Depp didn’t want to end the shoot, and snapped on the location manager.

The publication reveals, “Brooks then reportedly asked a police officer to help him tell Depp that filming had to stop for the night.”

“According to the lawsuit, Brooks claimed Depp became hostile and asked, “Who the f—k are you? You have no right to tell me what to do!” Brooks alleged that Depp punched him twice in the ribs before shouting, “I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now!”

Brooks would also mention in his lawsuit that the actor smelled like alcohol. Ultimately, Brooks was fired from the film, given that he wouldn’t sign paperwork stating that he wouldn’t sue the actor.

This launched the lawsuit and ultimately, it was taken care of in the midst of Depp’s court case with Amber Heard.

Thankfully for Johnny Depp, he didn’t have to step into court for the lawsuit, as according to Variety, a notice of the settlement was sent to the judge, avoiding the lawsuit.

The verdict came out in July of 2022, ultimately the terms were not disclosed and the matter was kept confidential. This was a positive result for Depp, who was on the road to fixing his image, following the situation alongside ex-Amber Heard. Perhaps following the verdict with Heard, the accuser might’ve thought twice about things, wanting to reach a verdict.

Clearly, the goal at the moment is to keep Depp away from the headlines, especially for anything controversial.
