The Traitors continues to be a hit among viewers season after season thanks to an incredible cast lineup of reality TV stars and, of course, the brilliant Alan Cumming. Alan has earned himself a slew of new fans for taking part in the series, and he enjoys giving fans some inside scoop about what really goes down inside the Andross Castle in Scotland—more specifically, what occurs at the epic round tables.
With a large cash prize at stake, some of these TV personalities have found themselves in heated confrontations during the round table. The scene is where Faithfuls and Traitors come together to vote off one of their house members. Season 3 has certainly had some iconic round table meetings, but it’s also gotten so intense, Alan thought he had to jump in to avoid a physical fight between competitors.
The Traitors Host Alan Cumming Revealed That A Round Table Almost Got Physical In Season 3
Season 3 of The Traitors sees a wide range of reality TV stars and Britney Spears’ ex-husband vying for a $250,000 cash prize. The show is about finding who among the cast are the traitors, and things can take a turn for the worse, even if that means seeing traitors turn on each other. There’s lying, deceit, and manipulation happening all inside the Scottish castle, but according to Alan, things have gotten way worse between game players.
In an interview with People, Alan revealed that viewers don’t even see half of it when it comes to round table conversations. Things get so intense among the cast during the round table scene, with Alan calling it “vicious.”
“There were bits in the round tables that I actually thought I was going to have to break up a fight, Alan shared, adding that “it got even more harsh than what you see.”
In an interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Alan teased how “ugly” things turned in the latest season. “Sometimes I feel like, Oh, my God, is there going to be a fight? I felt that a couple of times in this [upcoming third] season—I thought it was going to get really ugly,”
At the round table, competitors plead their case about who they believe among them are the traitors, while others must defend themselves to stay in the game or get voted off. In his interview, Alan specified which players got into it in Season 3:
“Boston Rob [Mariano] and Bob the Drag Queen, that got even more vicious. And between Carolyn [Wiger] and Danielle [Reyes], some stuff, I don’t know if it’s happened already, I’ve seen a bit of it, but there’s more to come,” Alan spilled.

In an intense round table, Boston Rob (a traitor) felt like he had no choice but to get rid of fellow traitor, Bob the Drag Queen. Bob wouldn’t go down quietly and gave it right back to Rob. Ultimately, the group side with Rob and eliminate Bob—the first Traitor to be banished.
The Traitors Host Called The Newest Season The Most Chaotic
It’s no surprise that Alan called Season 3 chaotic. The season began with a big twist. After announcing the three traitors— Danielle Reyes, Carolyn Wiger, and Bob the Drag Queen—Survivor legend Boston Rob was revealed as the final surprise Traitor.
Season 3 sees Traitors turn against each other at the round table more than once, which was a shock to Alan.
“I just don’t understand it. I mean, I started thinking Boston Rob, you can sort of think that’s his thing. He’s always a bit of a s***. Danielle, to me, I’m just like, ‘What are you doing? What are you doing?’ There’s no game. It’s just chaos.'”
“And Carolyn I think is just sort of a chaos sidekick. I saw her recently. She came to a viewing party at Club Cumming and I said, ‘I’m worried about you, Carolyn,’ She goes, ‘Well, I watch it all the time and I journal and I do cry a bit.’ I said, ‘Oh my God, you’re still going through it type of thing?’”
However, it’s not only Traitors turning their backs on one another. The new season also saw Faithfuls questioning their own alliances, including the Bambi alliance, who were made up of Bachelorette Gabby Windey, WWE’s Nikki Garcia, and Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause.
“It’s harsh. It’s harsh to be in the room because you feel the energy, and everyone takes it so personally. They’re in this bubble. They have nothing else to think about.”
“And it’s called The Traitors, but they start thinking like that. They’ve got no touchstone and nothing to compare it to, and their whole life is that for rest of this week.”
Alan Takes His The Traitors Hosting Gig Very Seriously
Alan is definitely a huge part in making the U.S. version of The Traitors the success it is today. He takes the role very seriously. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he shared, “I really love doing it. I love the fact that it’s connected with everyone in this way. Everyone’s really obsessed by it.”
“I act my socks off in The Traitors, just like I did on The Good Wife, and it’s this very juicy thing like I do in the theater or would do at the Tonys.”
Fans love to watch the show just to see Alan, too. A Redditor shared, “Honestly, like 60% of what makes The Traitors so great for me is Alan Cumming—his presence, his theatrics, his incredible outfits. He doesn’t just host the show; he becomes the heart of it.”
Alan expressed just how much he cares for his role in the aforementioned interview for The Hollywood Reporter.
“I feel like it’s a huge acting job,” he said. “I think about it as a character. Obviously it’s me—his name’s Alan Cumming—but obviously it’s not really me. I don’t really sound like that. I don’t dress like that. I don’t have a castle. Alas, that’s too bad.”
Alan has also been rightfully awarded for his hosting duties. Besides winning the Emmy for Outstanding Host For a Reality Or Reality Competition Program, The Traitors also won two other Emmys in 2023 and 2024: Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Casting For a Reality Program.
