Alexis Bellino reacted to the recent drama between Katie Ginella and Shannon Beador on The Real Housewives of Orange County on a podcast on Friday.
After it was revealed that Katie, 41, recorded Shannon, 61, amid a meltdown without her knowledge, Alexis, 48, detailed the role Tamra Judge, 57, played, defended and explained Katie’s behavior, and shared her thoughts on where Katie has gone wrong on the show while also offering an update on their friendship and shading Shannon for suggesting that she and John Janssen, 62, could have used the recording against her in court.
“First of all, I’m not the one that told Tamra about that. Katie had told Tamra,” Alexis clarified on the July 18 episode of Reality With the King. “Tamra came to me … and said, ‘Did you actually hear that thing that Katie recorded of Shannon? Did you ever actually hear it?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’”
While Alexis confirmed that she heard Shannon during a lunch date with Jennifer Pedranti, 48, who also heard it, she didn’t think it would be mentioned on the show.
According to Alexis, she felt bad for Katie because she “was not doing anything malicious” and “did not have any ill [will].” Instead, Alexis revealed, Katie recorded Shannon in order to explain why she was forced to hang up a business call with her husband, Matt Ginella.
“Shannon [came] in all ballistic and crazy and [saying], ‘F*cking Alexis Bellino … and filming and why is she here?’ I heard the whole thing … She was going wackadoodle job … So [Katie] just recorded it on an audio something. It was not a video,” she noted.
Regardless of the way in which it was recorded, Shannon wasn’t happy to find out what her castmate had done. Still, Alexis felt that she shouldn’t have been upset and should have instead taken the clip as a lesson.
“You have to learn from your behavior. If you’re gonna be a psychotic person and someone has it on the phone, just take accountability for your own actions,” Alexis advised.
As for the backlash Katie has received due to her antics both on the show and behind the scenes, Alexis signaled two issues after describing her as “kind” and suspecting the show “ate her alive.”
“Part of the problem with Katie this season is she hasn’t owned up to the truth when the things happened, but then she owns up later … I think that’s where it gets a little confusing … You can’t lie and then come back and say, ‘Oh, but yes I did,’ and do that multiple times without the red flags starting to come up for the other women,” she explained. “The other problem … She freezes up and you can’t freeze up as a housewife … If you freeze every single situation, you can’t get your plots out.”
Alexis also felt that Katie was living two separate lives.
“If anyone thinks they’re gonna go on a reality show and they’re gonna be able to shove things under the rug, or just make a cover-up or not tell the truth, the truth’s gonna come out. There’s no way you‘re gonna go an entire season and not have the reality and the truth come to fruition,” she shared. “[Katie’s] trying to make up two separate worlds, like, my private is my private life, and my TV life is my TV life, and that’s a mistake to be made by anyone that’s on a reality TV show because I’m sorry, it’s all one. It all becomes one. And you can’t do cover-ups. You can’t lie.”
Although Alexis and Katie “were very, very tight” around the time her clip of Shannon was recorded, Alexis confirmed that they are “a little more distant now.”
“We kind of lost touch a little bit ago. Me being off this season and the whole Shannon issue with what she recorded … Katie and I have definitely stepped back from being close,” she stated. “I do know from other housewives that I do talk to that it’s a rough season for her, so I don’t know how she’s doing right now, personally. I hope she’s okay. It’s tough.”
During another moment of the podcast, Alexis reacted to Shannon freaking out about her and John’s potential use of Katie’s clip in court amid John’s facelift lawsuit against her.
“That’s a stupid comment. It makes no sense,” she pointed out. “There is no way that would’ve helped us in a court case. She’s a lunatic? Okay, that doesn’t get us our money back. We needed the emails and the proof that we had.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 19 airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
