Netflix has treated fans of Wednesday to a tantalising glimpse of the second series, featuring behind-the-scenes clips from the cast and crew, reports Surrey Live.

In addition to hinting at forthcoming plotlines, the new season will introduce Grandmama, portrayed by Joanna Lumley. A brief clip reveals Wednesday Addams’ (Jena Ortega) face lighting up at her grandmother’s arrival, a detail not missed by the show’s observant fans.

Many took to YouTube’s comments section under the preview video to share their thoughts, with one viewer noting: “Wednesday only smiles twice: once with Uncle Fester and once with Grandmama.”

Another excited fan exclaimed: “OMG! ! ! Wednesday smile is Grandmama Frump is Joanna Lumley She is the mother of Morticia Addams gorgeous granddaughter! [sic].”

A third simply observed: “SHE SMILED AGAIN” while a fourth commented: “The only time she smiles this much after Uncle Fester.”

Another added: “I love how Wednesday never smile to anyone except for her uncle and grandmama. I CAN’T WAIT ! ! [sic].”

As fans will recall, Wednesday is renowned for her signature stoic expression, with only a select few, such as her Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), able to coax a smile from her.

Reflecting on her experience on the show, seasoned actress Lumley shared: “There’s always something thrilling about working for Tim Burton.

“The world that they’ve created here, it looks sensational. This gothic, sometimes quite bone-chilling [world] but it’s kind of playful.”

Showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough have disclosed that Joanna Lumley, the Absolutely Fabulous icon, was their prime choice for the role of Grandmama in the series.

The star-studded cast is set to include Billie Piper of Doctor Who fame, Hollywood heavyweight Steve Buscemi, Christopher Lloyd, and Thandiwe Newton from Westworld.

In a delightful homage to the Addams Family legacy, Christopher Lloyd’s appearance in season two echoes his memorable portrayal of Uncle Fester in the 1990s Addams Family films, akin to Christina Ricci’s character in the first season.

Fans are in for a treat with season two being released in two parts, the first four episodes dropping on August 6 and the final four on September 3.

This season will follow Pugsley Addams, played by Isaac Ordonez, as he embarks on his journey at Nevermore Academy, grappling with fitting in and seeking friendship.

Ordonez commented on Pugsley’s storyline: “He really wants to fit in, and he really wants a friend, but it’s not looking very good.”

Meanwhile, Wednesday will once again traverse the treacherous waters of high school life, confronting familiar adversaries, new challenges, and delving into another eerie mystery.

The upcoming episodes promise more family antics as viewers get an intimate glimpse of the Addams family interactions.

Jenna Ortega, who leads the cast, shared her thoughts on the forthcoming season, saying: “It’s quite funny and strange and it’s a nice way to come back to Nevermore.”

Wednesday season 2 part 1 launches on Netflix on August 6 and part 2 launches on September 3
