The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial completely ravaged pop culture back in 2022. For a few weeks, the whole ordeal dominated water cooler talk and was an important event that made people think deeply. Celebrities from Johnny’s ex-girlfriend Kate Moss to Amber’s ex-boyfriend James Franco both reacted and were involved in the trial. And its repercussions are still being felt today.
The trial didn’t stop in May 2022, when Johnny officially won the case. Amber has tried filing for a second case, claiming that the original trial was held in the incorrect state. It’s unclear how the retrial is going to go down. Most of the trial appeals have been settled by now. Regardless, both parties have seemingly moved on since then. Both actors have upcoming movie projects, and they both have moved to different countries.
Back on August 15th, 2022, Eliane Bredehoft stepped down from her alliance with Amber. Many people have wondered what Elaine’s been up to in the meantime. She has lived quite a private lifestyle since then, similar to Johnny and Amber.
Who Was Amber Heard’s Lawyer Elaine Bradehoft?
Lawyers and attorneys are pretty popular professions. However, a lot of people still don’t really know what they do. Yes, they defend people in court, but their roles go beyond that. There are different types of lawyers for different things. Most defend clients in court, while others help with counsel and research. It takes several years of college to become an attorney, and even then success isn’t guaranteed. That’s what makes Elaine’s resume so impressive.
Elaine has been an attorney for a long time. For decades she was seen as one of the best attorneys in the D.C/Maryland/Virginia area, also known as the DMV. While she represents all people from that area, and really the entire country, her true domain is in Virginia. Arguably her biggest accomplishment is getting into the American College of Trial Lawyers, an elite club where only 1% of lawyers and attorneys are admitted.
A lot of Elaine’s past trials include class action lawsuits involving major businesses. One of her biggest cases was Torres Advanced Enterprise Solutions LLC v. Namir El-Akabi, where she defended a Virginia disabled veterans company. The case resulted in a judgment of over $19 million.
According to Marca, Elaine has an estimated net worth of $5 million. No doubt it’s increased and will keep increasing now that she’s played an important part in one of the biggest legal cases ever.
Where Is Elaine Bradehoft Currently At Now That The Heard-Depp Trial Is Over?
Elaine has purposefully kept her life private since the end of the trial. However, her fame from it still affects her to this day.
Beyond representing Amber throughout the actual trial, Elaine went viral a few times for various things. When the verdict was confirmed, she was famously pictured crying. Afterward, she took interviews with outlets such as CBS and Today. The interviewers on those shows didn’t go soft by any means, hitting her with hardball question after hardball question.
There was another instance in the trial when someone on TikTok dressed up as Elaine and intentionally tried to meet Johnny Depp.

There really isn’t much information about Elaine’s life. According to Popular Bio, Elaine has never revealed any details regarding her family or personal life on purpose. This has remained the case nearly a year after the trial ended, and it seems like it’s going to stay that way for the rest of Elaine’s life. Any public interviews Elaine has done have been to discuss the trial, and what it means for women’s rights.
Who Has Amber Heard Hired For Her Appeal Case?
While it’s uncertain whether a full trial will happen again, both Johnny and Amber have appealed various parts of the original verdict. It seems to be finalized, as Amber posted on social media her settlement of $2 million. Depp walked away with $10 million after the original conclusion, and according to the Associated Press, Johnny’s getting an additional $1 million for his appeals.
For whatever the future brings, Amber has hired multiple lawyers to help out. Amber’s primary appeal so far isn’t looking too great, but it’s just getting started. In August, Amber hired David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown to be her counsel. Elaine actually had a lot to say about the transition, declaring that she’d assist the lawyers whenever they’d need her help.
There’s a lot of interesting information regarding Amber’s new lawyers. They both work for the Ballard Spahr, a notable law firm based in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. They both represented the New York Times in a high-profile trial against Sarah Palin in early 2022.
David used to work on the SEC board and helped out in fighting against market manipulation. Meanwhile, Jay, the more experienced of the two, has been representing entertainment companies for decades now. His cases usually revolve around copyright and defamation, the latter of which pertains to Amber’s situation.
The two together, with the help of Elaine, should be a formidable team for Amber moving forward.
Of course, Johnny Depp has spent time re-assessing his defensive plan. His original lawyer was famously Camille Vasquez, who has been hired as an NBC analyst. This is after all the rumors that Johnny was dating Camille, which Camille confirmed as entirely baseless. She did continue to help Johnny in his appeal against Amber, however, so perhaps she’ll help Johnny in a potential retrial.
Depp, meanwhile, is also trying to begin anew. He’s moving to London and getting back into acting, with a few confirmed roles set up for his acting career. Amber’s still slated to star in Aquaman 2, despite the huge backlash the movie got for including her. The film already has some test screenings. The reviews so far seem to indicate it isn’t good thus far, but it’s still early in the production process.
