American Idol Season 23 has finished with auditions as those selected are now through to “Hollywood Week,” where they will continue to try and impress the judges to earn a spot in the Top 24. Host Ryan Seacrest and the three judges, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Idol Season 4 winner and new judge, Carrie Underwood, witnessed some amazing talent this season.

There is still a lot more singing and voting to do before a new American Idol winner is crowned. However, it looks like viewers have already chosen a favorite among the contestants. Fans have been captivated by Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell’s son, Baylee Littrell, since his Idol audition. In fact, these same fans think he’s a clear winner for Season 23.

This article contains spoilers about American Idol Season 23!

American Idol Fans Are Blown Away By Contestant Baylee Littrell

American Idol Season 23 auditions were one for the books. The talent this season blew judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood away. But, what was most shocking this season was seeing Backstreet Boys’ Brian Littrell’s 22-year-old son, Baylee Littrell, also try and earn his golden ticket to Hollywood.

Fans would assume that Baylee wouldn’t need a reality TV singing competition show to make it big because of his famous father. However, during Baylee’s audition round, his father made it clear that getting into the entertainment business is no easy feat, even if you’re part of a famous family.

“Obviously, growing up in the industry, a lot of people get that as such a perk, but it’s not easy,” Brian shared.

Baylee came into auditions with his guitar and played an original song for the three judges, titled, “Waiting On Myself To Die.” Baylee described his original tune as an “emotional” one, adding, “this song is about me personally wanting to give up, but not giving up yet.”

As Baylee began to sing, Carrie went wide-eyed and looked at Luke. She was stunned at his singing ability. After he finished his song, Carrie shared, “You’re really good, like, you’re really good.”

“I think you can go very, very far in this competition.”

Fans seem to agree with Carrie, and not only because of Baylee’s outstanding ability to sing, play guitar, and write original music. Most agreed that Baylee also has the right attitude, especially since he could easily be called another nepo baby of Hollywood.

“He wrote his own song. and sang it. This kid has pure talent. His dad should be proud. Not only of his obvious talent, but his obvious good and humble heart. Good job Mom and Dad, you passed on talent, and raised a good kid,” a comment read.

“Is it me but, if he did not say who he was I would still say that is a great original song that I can see on the radio. His voice is natural. WOW!”

“NOT ONLY WAS THERE A GREAT TALENT, BUT THE HUMILITY WORKED FOR ME. Bless you, Baylee. AND OBVIOUSLY THE BOND BETWEEN SON AND DAD,” another comment read.

During his audition, the judges also expressed that Baylee “was in his own lane,” despite having a famous father. Lionel believed he “could go a long way” this season.

Who Is Baylee Littrell And His Famous Father?

When Baylee Littrell arrived at the Season 23 American Idol auditions, judge Carrie saw something in him that seemed very familiar. It wasn’t until he shared that his father was a part of one of the most famous boy bands that she put two and two together. Carrie even had posters of the Backstreet Boys in her bedroom!

During his audition, Baylee shared that he grew up around his dad performing with the Backstreet Boys, which also included Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, and Howie Dorough. Videos of Baylee as young as 4 or 5 saw him holding a microphone on stage with his famous father.

“I believe I get my voice from my dad,” Baylee shared. However, while the 22-year-old may have gotten his vocals from Brian, he didn’t quite get his dance moves, jokingly sharing, “dance moves wise, that’s the one thing genetically that did not pass down.”

The Backstreet Boys formed in 1993 and have sold over 130 million records worldwide.

Baylee has continued to impress both the judges and viewers at home with his vocals. During “Hollywood Week,” he sang yet another original song titled “Hey Jesus.” Baylee wrote the song after the passing of his grandmother.

Baylee had a strong connection to his grandmother, Shirley. He shared that when his father was on tour with the Backstreet Boys, she would look after him.

“She would always step in. She understood me, like not many people do,” Baylee said. The singer added that after her death, he “questioned” his faith. His song, “Hey Jesus,” is about Baylee finding his faith again.

Fans were, again, blown away by Baylee’s performance and songwriting ability. “This should be a number one song!!” someone wrote. “I can’t seem to find enough words to express how deep that song reaches,” another comment read.

“There is something pure and genuine about him, which he is able to communicate through his music to the audience. Really like this humble guy. So much emotion in this song. Music truly is healing and therapy.”

Does Baylee Make It To The Top 24?

Baylee wowed judges with his original songs during both his auditions and “Hollywood Week,” but did he make it to the Top 24?

An unofficial spoiler from MJSBIGBLOG believes that Baylee did make it to the Top 24 after his performance of “Hey Jesus.” These remaining contestants then took the stage in front of a live studio audience at Disney Aulani Resort in Hawaii, where they will then be cut to the Top 20.

In fact, the unofficial spoiler also shared that the Top 24 were split in half, where 12 contestants were mentored by R&B singer Ashanti, while the other half were mentored by Grammy-nominated singer Josh Groban. Baylee was in Group 1 where he was mentored by Ashanti.

Additionally, the blog post shared that Baylee chose to sing “Happy” by Pharrell Williams for the Disney rounds, which will be shown on April 13th and 14th. If Baylee makes it past this round, he will have the advantage when Idol premieres its three-hour Easter episode, which sees the remaining 20 contestants singing faith-inspired songs. Called “Songs of Faith,” Idol is doing something it’s never done before by having a religious-based theme.

It will certainly be a great way for Baylee to showcase another original faith-inspired song as he’s done so during both his audition and during “Hollywood Week.” The “Songs of Faith” episode will air on Sunday, April 20th, and will also feature performances by the judges and Idol’s artist in residence, Jelly Roll, along with other Christian singers.

American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
