WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 24! The 24th season of American Idol has revealed its theme night for the upcoming April 13 episode, following the Judges’ Song Contest event. On March 30, during Songs of Faith Night, a first in the show’s history occurred: the planned elimination was delayed. This was due to the need for additional time to tally votes after introducing social media voting. Consequently, two contestants will be sent home at the start of the April 6 episode, which will feature the Judges’ Song Contest.

The Judges’ Song Contest for this season of American Idol will spotlight a ’90s theme, marking the first time the contest has been themed. Adding to the nostalgia, stars from ABC’s iconic ’90s “TGIF” lineup will join the contestants in the lounge. Judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan will each propose three songs for the Top 12 contestants. Each contestant will choose one song from the list without knowing which judge picked it. The judge whose songs are chosen the most will win the contest.

The Top 14 contestants who showcased their talents on Songs of Faith Night include Keyla Richardson, Jesse Findling, Lucas Leon, Daniel Stallworth, Philmon Lee, Rae, Jake Thistle, Braden Rumfelt, Julián Kalel, Kyndal, Jordan McCullough, Brooks, Hannah Harper, and Chris Tungseth. However, only 12 of these performers will compete in the Judges’ Song Contest.

According to an ABC press release, American Idol season 24 will present Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night on April 13. The Top 11 will perform hits from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees. The most likely reason for there being a Top 11 instead of a Top 10 is because the judge who wins the Judges’ Song Contest usually has the privilege of saving one of the bottom two contestants from elimination. America will then vote live on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night for the Top 9.

In addition to the American Idol season 24 Top 11 finalists’ performances on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night, the inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2026 ceremony will be revealed.

In addition to Songs of Faith, the Judges’ Song Contest, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nights, executive producer and showrunner Megan Michaels Wolflick has announced some more of the show’s upcoming theme nights. In an interview with Billboard, she revealed that the beloved Disney Night will return. Disney Night has been a cherished American Idol tradition in the ABC era of the show.

In addition, there will be a university theme for one of the episodes, which will honor the 20th anniversary of the iconic season 5 from 2006. American Idol season 5 gave rise to some of the shows brightest stars, including winner Taylor Hicks, runner-up Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, Elliott Yamin, Kellie Pickler, Ace Young, Bucky Covington, Paris Bennett, and the late Mandisa.

American Idol season 24 has been one of the most competitive yet, with extraordinarily talented finalists. It’s going to be thrilling to see them perform songs by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees because those singers are the best of the best. The season has been very exciting so far, especially with the unexpected elimination cliffhanger after Songs of Faith Night. American Idol season 24 has been a wild ride so far, and it’s going to continue to be epic.

American Idol airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
