Amy Schumer is proud to show off all the work she put into her stunning New Orleans home.

“I think people are — not that people are spending all their time thinking about me — but I think people would be pretty surprised by how much pride and effort and specificity I put into my home,” the actress, 43, said in an interview with Homeworthy uploaded via YouTube on Friday, May 9. “I think people would think that I probably live like I’m a hoarder and I live under a lot of neon bar signs.

She continued. “But I actually like being around beauty — and really drunk people.”

Schumer explained that she fell in love with New Orleans when she was a teenager visiting during a volleyball competition. Her love of the city grew as she returned multiple times. Her husband, Chris Fischer, also developed an affinity for The Big Easy.

“Over the years, going on the road, doing standup, eventually being married, being pregnant — we were spending more and more time here,” Schumer said of the city.

Schumer and Fischer, who tied the knot in February 2018, decided to put down roots in New Orleans years after they welcomed their son Gene, 6. The couple purchased the French Quarter abode in 2021 before renovating the home, Schumer said, in order to make it “into our dream, dramatic New Orleans hang.”

“I just dreamed this place up, I made a collage of the furniture and the lighting and just like what my dream would be, what it would look like,” she reflected on the renovation process. “My husband and I, we felt really inspired and this house is like our dream come true.”

Schumer brought the outlet into her home to give them the grand tour. Homeworthy described it as a “jewel box of a home that perfectly blends old-world Southern charm with Amy’s unmistakable wit and fearless creativity.”

The comedian showed off her library, which included shelves filled with books, photos, and art prints. The library features a sliding ladder, which Schumer joked made her feel like she had “made it.”. The room has an antique chandelier from the previous owner, which Schumer and Fischer, 44, opted to leave in place since they “loved it.” The chandelier features original floral molding, so the only change they made was to give the blossoms a pop of color.

Schumer also gave a tour of her living room, which features a piano. She shared that the musical instrument wasn’t meant for her or her immediate family, but for the musicians who do stop by her place on occasion.

“That’s one of my favorite things about New Orleans, you never know who’s gonna drop in and tickle the keys,” she teased.

Schumer’s home also features countless hand-painted murals throughout the property, including the house’s entryway and a bathroom.

While Schumer put a lot of work into getting the home in pristine condition, she credited her husband for leaving his fingerprints all over the residence, too.

“Everything you see is something that Chris and I fell in love with,” Schumer said. “We have a similar sensibility.”

However, there were some instances where compromises needed to be made.

“He really likes this yellow couch and I don’t. And I don’t really like these pillows,” Schumer said of the sofas in the pair’s “couch couch” room. “But that’s where you compromise, right? That’s marriage.”
