While engaging with his guests, Janelle James and Jerrod Carmichael, Cohen, 57, took a moment to vent about a familiar issue. He asked his guests if they ever experienced having their jokes taken by others. He then shared, “We get games stolen all the time, and we say nothing,” highlighting a recurring theme with WWHL.
Cohen’s remarks, as reported by PEOPLE, shed light on a specific instance involving his game “Prompter Wars.” The game, which Cohen played on the Today show with Hoda Kotb and Sheinelle Jones back in 2024, was later seen on Jenna Bush Hager’s morning show. Jenna, 43, incorporated the game into her Today with Jenna & Friends segment with a format strikingly similar to Cohen’s original version.
This revelation adds an intriguing layer to the dynamics between popular talk shows, where originality and creative segments are significant draws for audiences. Andy’s comments, delivered with his trademark humor and honesty, highlight the ongoing challenges in maintaining unique content in the competitive world of television entertainment.
According to Andy, who played “Prompter Wars” on Today with Hoda Kotb, 61, and Sheinelle Jones, 47, in 2024, Jenna, 43, brought the game to her morning talk show, Today with Jenna & Friends, where she’s played it with numerous guests in recent years in a nearly identical format.
“Prompter Wars, I’m looking at you, Jenna Bush,” Andy stated.
Back in April, Andy appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends but didn’t mention Jenna’s thievery. That said, Jenna did take issue with the host, calling him out over one of his prior visits to the morning show.
“I always felt like, because you and Hoda have a friendship, Hoda and I have a friendship, when you would come, I was like, ‘Am I on a triple date?’” she shared.
“Did you feel like the third wheel?” Andy replied.
Then, after confirming that she did feel “a little” like the third wheel, and “not in a good way,” she added, “But it was okay because I love to watch people love Hoda, you know, she’s my bestie.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10/9c on Bravo.
