When it comes to the husbands from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Apollo Nida is one of the most talked-about. This is due to both his on-screen drama with Phaedra Parks and his troubled marriage to Sherien Almufti. Now, the former RHOA star has just revealed that he has another son, and he shared this news in one of the most dramatic ways possible.

Fans will recall that a judge handed Apollo an eight-year prison sentence in 2014 for mail, wire, and bank fraud after negatively impacting around 50 victims. He was then released early in 2019. He later tied the knot with Sherien in 2022, but the two are now going through a messy divorce. 

Apollo recently sat down for an episode of the Any Second Podcast, which premiered its first episode in May of this year. Trey Cribb hosts the show. The two discussed quite a bit during the episode, including what Apollo’s life has been like since being released from prison. 

However, the most notable part comes toward the end when Apollo discusses being contacted while behind bars. A woman reached out to him via letters and informed him that he had a son, and his wife somehow got the information and told him during a visit. Later, the son also reached out to Apollo after noticing a resemblance. 

“Sherien was like, ‘We gotta check this out.’ So, she contacted my brother. She flew down to Atlanta just to see,” Apollo says. “He was in Atlanta the whole time.” For context, the RHOA alum says he was 34 years old around this time. 

Apollo later received pictures of the child while in prison, and the resemblance convinced him that he was the father. Still, they had a DNA test done through his mother, which confirmed what Apollo had already suspected. The son was in his early 20s once the paternity was confirmed, and Apollo was close to getting out of prison. 

Apollo explains, “We started talking on the phone… and I was like, ‘Hey, you want to come up here and come see me?’” 

From there, Apollo says his son scheduled a visitation, which is how they met for the first time. The shocker comes when the host asks if they are still in touch, and Apollo responds, ” We’re locked in.”

When asked about the last time they spoke, Apollo reveals, “Well, you really want to know? I’m speaking to him right now. You’re the guy.”

Of course, Trey acts surprised, asking why no one told him he would be interviewing his father. In the end, they both say, “I love you.” He then says, “Thanks for reaching out.”
